Laura Garrard formed a love for drawing at an early age. Some of her favorite cartoon characters were the Peanuts by Charles Shultz, and she would challenge herself to duplicate Snoopy and Charlie Brown in pencil. The horse was also a consistent study for her drawings.
During her undergraduate work in advertising, Garrard began to develop the continuous black and white line work displayed on this site. One can see her background in dance come to play in the movement of meticulous curves created by tiny pen points and black ink. After years of working in graphic design and color print production, however, Garrard is currently focusing on acrylic abstract and impressionistic paintings – which are as colorful as the black and white works are contrasting.
